Something for everyone at Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum this July

July is a busy month at the Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum. There is something for everyone.

Gushers in July/Food Drive
Every Wednesday – July 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 - at noon, the gusher will go off.  Cool off for 2 minutes while the gusher explodes with water.  The gusher is a re-creation of the first gusher of 1901. Also, donate to the South East Texas Food Bank. There will be a food barrel to collect food for the hungry. Do something fun as well as help out others.

Family Programs
Come out for family programs between 5-7 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month beginning July 11. The programs allow families to explore the culture of 1901. So on July 11 come play 1901 games with wood-hoop and stick, the game of graces, hoop toss and more. July 25 will be craft night making something from the time period. Museum members will be able to get free admission. For non-members, it will be the usual admission of $5 for adults; $3 for senior citizens (60+); and $2 for kids, 6-12; kids, 5 and under are free. Museum membership is $50 for an individual; $150 for a family.

“July is going to be a fun month for the staff and visitors,” Director Troy Gray said. “We love Gushers in July and with the added bonus this year of being able to help the Food Bank, it is going to be extra special. The family programs will enhance the fun and the learning at the museum.”
