Basic photography classes offered

Have you wanted to start a new hobby? Are you tired of doing the same old thing on Saturday? Returning to Gladys City again is our popular Basic Photography class!

On October 21, we will have the Basic Photography class from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be $75 with a $50 nonrefundable deposit. We have room for 12 students aged 13 and above. (Ages 13-15 will need a parent who also signs up for the class.) Students will need a DSLR camera with at least one lens. The class will be taught by Shannon Wright, a natural light photographer based in Beaumont. She has been doing photography full time for almost 8 years. Shannon specializes in children, family and graduating senior sessions.

Some of the things that will be covered during this class are: Gear - learning which lenses are best for which scenarios; Manual mode - how to know what settings to use without setting your camera to Auto; Aperture, ISO, and Shutter Speed - how these three elements work together to achieve the correct exposure; Composition - learning what is traditionally most appealing to the eye and putting your own twist on it; Interactions - we will also explore how to get your subjects to interact with each other and or yourself so that you can capture what you want to capture.

Call the museum today at (409) 880-1750. Spaces for the class fill up quickly.
