Reese Construction Management Program hosts career forum

The Lamar University Reese Construction Management Program has scheduled a Construction Career Forum for Wednesday, April 29, from 6-8 p.m. on the eighth floor of the Mary and John Gray Library.  Students will have the opportunity to gain insight from industry professionals and network with experts in their career field.  Students are encouraged to bring current resumes.

Students of all classifications will benefit from learning about potential employers directly from professionals working for those companies. The smaller group format will allow attendees to ask more questions and permit more detailed conversations.   Sponsored by ISC, industry leaders in electrical and power systems, representatives from several construction related businesses will address what it’s like to work in specific industries and for specific companies, as well as the career path that will assist students in reaching their desired career in construction management.

The Construction Career Forum will be the conclusion of a day fostering the relationship between the Reese Construction Management Program and the local construction industry. Also on the day's agenda is a capstone project presentation, where graduating construction management students will present their semester-long projects to construction management faculty and industry professionals. Their projects are the culmination of everything construction management students have learned in the program. Additionally, the department will host an advisory council meeting, where key members of industry lend their expertise in guiding the Reese Construction Management Program.

High school students who are interested in learning more about the construction management field are encouraged to attend.   For more information about the forum, contact the Lamar University Career Services office at 409-880-8878 or online at www.lamar.edu/careertesting.edu or the Reese Construction Management Program directly at (409) 880-7558 or Christina.trujillo@lamar.edu.
