Tony DeMars is a professor in the Department of Communication and Media. He is editor of the Journal of Radio and Audio Media and past president for the Broadcast Education Association and the Texas Association of Broadcast Educators. He served six years as board member of the Texas Association of Broadcasters, two years as Council of Divisions Chair for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and currently serves on the board of directors for the Radio Television Digital News Association. DeMars' most recent publications include the book Narratives of Storytelling Across Cultures and a chapter on Big Data for Communication Technology Update and Fundamentals. His research centers on broadcast journalism, mobile journalism, communication technologies and media production.

DeMars’ radio work includes six years at KMLA-Ashdown/Texarkana, AR and four years at KEEE-KJCS, Lufkin/Nacogdoches, TX, and he has also worked at KODI, Cody, WY; KWOR, Worland, WY; KTRX, Tarkio, MO; WHER-WFOR, Hattiesburg, MS; KLTR-Houston; KHMX-Houston; KODA-Houston; and KBFB-Dallas/Fort Worth. He also did a TV news reporter stint at KHQA-Quincy, IL.
