A Fairy’s Tail is a fictional graphic novel created to support preadolescents who struggle with insecurities about their physical appearance. Set in a whimsical, fantasy world, the story follows Talia, a young fairy born with a unique feature, a tail. Unlike the other fairies in her community, Talia embraces her difference with joy and confidence from the very beginning. For a time, Talia’s tail is met with acceptance and curiosity. However, her self-assurance is challenged when she encounters three fairies who tease and belittle her, causing Talia to question her appearance and hide her tail in hopes of gaining their approval. Though rendered in a playful, vibrant art style, the narrative tackles deeper themes such as bullying, body image, and the pressure to conform. Through Talia’s journey, the Eva Pulido aims to encourage children to embrace their individuality and find strength in being themselves, regardless of others’ opinions.
