Sustainability Committee and LU Green Squad

Friday, January 31, 2020, 1:00 pm

Present:  Madeline Hiebert, Hector Flores, Crystel Conley, Mackenzie Shill, Jennifer Ravey, Todd Shaver, Dana Espinal, Briana Laidler, Morgan Martin, Zainab Marryah, Rayleigh Stiles, Jocelyn Morales, Alicen Flosi

  1. Make list for LU Green Squad T-shirts additional sizes
  2. Recycling update: Waste Management is closed, we are working towards coming back, we will hire employees to sort the recycling and transport it to facility in Houston
  3. Join OrgSync if you have not already
  4. Work-Day at the Garden this Sunday @ 10:00 AM- noon
  5. April 18th will be Garden Day/Party with food and a DJ- 10:00-1:00 (Mulch, plant Fruit Trees)
  6. Earth Day, April 22nd 10:00-1:30
  • Big Red and LU
  • Caricature artists
  • Food selections - brownies, chocolate (desserts at 1:00) iced tea instead of Gatorade, snow cones?
  • Need help with set up tables and chairs, tear down, visitor help (parking, setup, assist during event)
  • Possible construction near the Library, study other locations with electricity for the DJ
  • Houston Pig Rescue for possible petting zoo at Earth Day?
  1. Help is needed for the Sustainability Survey, iPads during Earth Day or table in the Set by the marketplace, help with the survey creation itself
  2. Sustainability Plan mission and the definition of sustainability. Revise mission to include students, faculty, and staff or everyone involved in the Lamar Community
  3. Meetings will be set up to discuss the Sustainability Plan
  4. Green Day at the Baseball Game- date TBD (games, shirts will be provided)
