Sustainability Committee Meeting

February 21, 2019 @ 2:00 pm

 Earth Day Plans:

   5. Outdoor pursuits, Eric – hammock, game (Jenga?)
   6. Civic Engagement, Todd - Seeds for Needs?
   7. Art Dept, Karen - Drawing caricatures
   8. Chartwells, Jack Spurlock – cookie decorating
   9. LEED info booth, Dana – check with Houston company
   10. LUPD – parking
   11. Event planning, Greyson
   12. Food
   13. Tables – reserve (Alicen)
   14. Tree Planting, Marco – 4 - 65 gallon Oaks 11:00, 11:15, 11:30, 11:45
   15. Other possibilities - Selfie Station? Petting zoo?
   16. Marketing – Monday update, FB, Twitter, monitors throughout campus, sandwich boards, invite people in the morning, banner on the tent
2. The committee will brainstorm ways to help the custodians recycle. This might involve purchasing more supplies such as separate rolling cans for recycling & trash. Check into sustainability training/certifications that are available.
3. Alicen will see if the Green Squad can make a video about what can and can’t be recycled.
4. We will see if walking paths can be incorporated into the LiveSafe ap.
5. The committee will develop policies on single-use plastics, LEED silver specs for all remodels and upgrades, and paperless campus requirements to be presented to the administration.
6. Marc and Alicen will work on ways to encourage departments to purchase sustainable or recycled products whenever possible.
7. A Green Office program will be drafted to present to the administration.
