Call to Order: 3:30 p.m.

Approval of Minutes from 3/5/18: Debbie Troxclair’s last name was misspelled in the prior minutes. Correction will be made. Judy Smith made a motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting with the minor revision. Zanthia Smith seconded the motion, and minutes were unanimously approved.

General Information: The Department of Communications has proposed a change of the department name to the Department of Communications and Media.  The proposal was submitted to the Provost office.

Syllabi for Review:

CVEN 3300

• Contact hours should be 30 lecture and 15 lab on face page
• No ISBN number for textbook
• No introductory statement present in the Student Learning Outcomes section
• Zanthia Smith made a motion to approve the syllabus with the recommended changes; Debbie Troxclair seconded and the motion was unanimously approved.

CHEN 4350

• Where the course schedule is listed the word course is misspelled.
• Judy Smith made a motion to approve the syllabus with the minor revision; Mamta Singh seconded. Motion was you unanimously approved.

CHEN 4420

• Contact hours set at 60-Is this all lecture or is there a lab component that is not credited with some hours on face sheet.
• Two different buildings involved-unclear as to what is being done where.
• Questioned having a section on Ethics and also Academic Honesty. Recommended that the two sections be combined together.
• Judy Smith made a motion to approve the syllabus with the recommended changes; Qinjiang Yao seconded. Motion was you unanimously approved.

CHEN 3330

• Is the book listed as a reference book, the actual course textbook or is it a recommended text. If recommended text needs to be designated as such.
• Judy Smith made a motion to approve the syllabus with the minor changes; Qinjiang Yao seconded. Motion was unanimously approved.

CHEN 4150

• 15 Contact hours for lecture were removed, since the course is an all lab course
• Michael Saar made a motion to approve the syllabus with the minor change; Mamta Singh seconded. Motion was unanimously approved.

CHEN 4330

• Attendance policy has no penalties listed
• Need clarifications on the course times
• With the pre-requisites need to add the word (or concurrent after CHEN 3320 on the face sheet.
• Michael Saar made a motion to approve the syllabus with the recommended changes; Debbie Troxclair seconded. Motion was unanimously approved. (See motion with CHEN 4410 that rescinds this motion.)

CHEN 4410

• Has the same name as the course CHEN 4330, the same class times, etc that was just looked at.
• While it has the same class times, a lab is designated for both sections.
• Questioned whether this was a duplicate course or was it an upgraded course from CHEN 4330. Should the CHEN 4330 have been submitted as a deleted course
• With the pre-requisites need to add the word (or concurrent after CHEN 3320 on the face sheet.
• CHEN 4330 was not found on the Chemical Engineering degree plan.
• Michael Saar made the motion to rescind the approval of CHEN 4330 and to send both CHEN 4330 and CHEN 4410 syllabi back to the department for clarification. Mamta Singh seconded. Unanimously approved
