Research Council Meeting Minutes
April 3, 2023, at 1:00 PM

Attendees: Jerry Lin, Agim Kukeli, Maryam Hamidi, Alyse Jordan, Amy Smith, Mamta Singh, and
Matthew Hoch
Not in attendance: Kurt Dyrhaug

Meeting called to order at 1:07 PM by Dr. Jerry Lin

I. Review and approval on March 2023 meeting minutes
a. Motion to accept March 2023 minutes by Agim Kukeli
b. Seconded by Alyse Jordan

II. Discussion on faculty time & effort contribution – recommendations/needs for data
collection. The research council tentatively agree upon the following:

i. There is a need to clearly define the time & effort contribution on teaching, research and
service.
ii. There is a need to develop a set of metrics for evaluating the deliverables of research’s
time & effort contribution.
iii. There is a need to develop a policy/procedure for course release arrangement.
iv. The council’s recommendations should consider integrated approaches that align the
missions/directions of department, college and university.

III. Roundtable
a. The research council will provide an initial set recommendations to guide future
discussion on faculty time & effort contribution allocation.
