Institutional Patent Committee Meeting

February 10, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. | Science and Technology Bldg #275

 

  1. Meeting called to order at 3:03 p.m. by Gene Theodori.

  2. Helen Lou presented a proposed patent idea to the Committee, followed by a brief question/answer session from 3:05pm - 3:24pm.

  3. Alek Hutson presented a proposed patent idea to the Committee, followed by a brief question/answer session from 3:34pm - 4:15pm.

  4. Committee discussed the feasibility of both patent ideas. Committee agreed that Helen Lou’s idea has merit and that the University should assist with securing a patent. Committee agreed that Alek Hutson’s idea is not developed enough to pursue a patent. Mark Robinson agreed to contact OGC and inquire about hiring a patent attorney. Gene Theodori agreed to contact both Helen Lou and Alek Hutson to inform them of the Committee’s decisions. Discussion lasted from 4:00pm - 4:15pm.

  5. Meeting adjourned at 4:16ppm.
