In the November and December meeting, the council voted to send this item back to the department for correction. The course objectives should be rewritten as they are currently written as a course description. The course objective and student learning outcomes were low level rigor and needed to be revised to match graduate level rigor. The council also made the recommendation to limit the number of course learning objectives use the ones that best highlighted the important takeaways from the course. Also, the syllabus should be in LU template and content in the syllabus should match the content in courseleaf.
The department sent a new, updated syllabi by the January deadline. The council voted to accept this item.

The council voted to table these items and revisit them at next month’s meeting. The council also requested that the department make appropriate corrections prior to next month’s meeting. The current syllabi does not adhere to Blooms Higher Taxonomy. The student level outcomes and course objectives should be rewritten to suggest graduate level rigor. There are also inconsistencies in the student learning outcomes and the course objectives. The student learning outcomes need to match on both CourseLeaf and on the syllabus. The number of learning objectives needs to be consistent for each course, with the recommended amount being around 4 to 5 objectives. ECEN 5307 and ECEN 5308 have the same exact student learning outcomes.
The council recommended that the department reach out to the Instructional Design Team in order to receive guidance on SACS requirements and Blooms Higher Taxonomy.
Finally, the council noted that if the item is returned for correction after next month’s meeting, all revisions must be finalized and submitted to the Graduate University Curriculum Council no later than April.
