GRADUATE COUNCIL MINUTES

The Graduate Council of Lamar University met in the in the Wimberly Building, Room 219D, Conference Area, at 1:30 p.m. Dr. William Harn, Dean of Graduate Studies, presided. Dr. Ruthie Robinson, Dr. Tracy Benson and Dr. Frank Badua attended. Theresa Heffner-Babb from Planning and Assessment, Dr Debbie Troxclair from the College of Education, Teacher Education Department and Dr Jeremy Shelton from the College of Arts and Sciences, Psychology Department, also attended.

 

MINUTES:

The April (#443) meeting minutes were reviewed by the Graduate Council. Dr. Benson motioned to approve the documents, Dr. Robinson seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.

College of Education

 

Dr. Debra Troxclair from the College of Education presented on the behalf of the Department of Teacher Education for the M. Ed. EC-12 Special Education Degree Plan. Dr. Benson motioned to approve the documents, Dr. Robinson seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.

 

College of Arts & Sciences

Dr. Jeremy Shelton from the College of Arts and Sciences presented on behalf of the Department of Psychology for the Graduate Curriculum changes and degree plan revisions to be in compliant with TSBEP regulations. Dr. Robinson motioned to approve the documents, Dr. Badua seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.

 

College of Business

Department of Information Systems Management presented updates to the previously submitted ERP and M.S. in MIS degree plan changes earlier this year to the Graduate Council. The course addition MISY 5325-Cybersecurity Management was added to the certificate degree plan. Dr. Budua motioned to approve the documents, Dr. Benson seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.

 

College of Engineering

Department of Electrical Engineering submitted two course additions, ELEN 5317-Programmable Logic Controllers, and ELEN 5358-Electric System Modeling to the Graduate Council. Dr. Robinson motioned to approve the documents, Dr. Benson seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.

 

College of Fine Arts and Communication

Department of Music proposed minor changes to their curriculum stating that the courses that are offered currently on campus will now be available for their students online. Dr. Benson motioned to approve the documents, Dr. Robinson seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.

 

Conclusion: The next meeting is on Wednesday, October 17. 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the Wimberly Bldg., Room 219D, Conference Area.
