The Graduate Council of Lamar University met in the in the Wimberly Building, Room 219D, Conference Area, at 1:30 p.m. Dr. William Harn, Dean of Graduate Studies, presided. Dr. Ruthie Robinson, Dr. Tracy Benson, Dr. Iva Hall, and Dr. Dorothy Sisk attended.

 

MINUTES:

The March (#442) meeting minutes were reviewed by the Graduate Council. Dr. Robinson motioned to approve the documents, Dr. Hall seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.

NEW BUSINESS:

 

College of Business

A recommendation was submitted to the Graduate Council for Enterprise Resource Planning and Construction Project Management Certificate programs. Students have a choice four out of six courses in each of the programs. Dr. Sisk motioned to approve, Dr Hall seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.

 

College Education

The Department of Doctoral Leadership submitted the following course additions, EDUD 6356-Quantitative Research Methods, EDUD 6357-Qualitative Research Methods, EDUD 6330- Fundamentals of Program Evaluation, and EDUD 6335-Strategic Planning, for the Council’s review. A consensus by the Council via email was made on April 25 in favor of the new course additions.

 

The Department of Educational Leadership submitted the course addition, EDLD 5389-Developing Learning and Leading. A consensus by the Council via email was made on June 19, in favor of the new course addition.

 

College of Arts & Sciences

The Department of Biology submitted the course addition, BIOL 5412-Molecular Genetics. A consensus by the Council via email, April 29, was made in favor of the new course addition.

 

Graduate Studies

Graduate Scholarship Policy changes. A consensus by the Council was made in favor of the change to the policy.

 

Conclusion: The next meeting is on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the Wimberly Bldg., Room 219D, Conference Area.
