The Graduate Council of Lamar University met in the in the Wimberly Building, Room 219D, Conference Area, at 1:30 p.m. Dr. William Harn, Dean of Graduate Studies, presided. Dr. Ruthie Robinson, Dr. Jimmy Moss, Dr. Tracy Benson, and Dr. Dorothy Sisk attended. Also in attendance was Dr. Brian Williams from the Department of Political Science.
MINUTES:
The January (#440) meeting minutes were reviewed by the Graduate Council. Dr. Robinson motioned to approve the documents, Dr. Sisk seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.
OLD BUSINESS:

College of Arts and Sciences:
Dr. Williams presented a proposal to the Graduate Council on behalf the Department of Political Science for review. Included with the proposal are several course additions, changes, and deletions to the degree plan.

· POLS 5333 (Leadership in Public Administration and Non Profits)
· POLS 5334 (Constitutional Law for Public Administration)

The Council reviewed the submissions. Dr. Sisk motioned to approve, Dr. Benson seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.
College of Education and Human Development-Doctoral Studies
The Center for Doctoral Studies submitted a memo for a new course addition to the Graduate Council for review. Dr. Sisk motioned to approve the proposal and course addition, Dr. Moss seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.
Course Addition:
EDUD 6355 (Educational Research Methods)
College of Fine Arts and Communication- Department of Speech and Hearing
The Department of Speech and Hearing submitted a proposal to the Graduate Council for review to add a new 18-hour degree certificate program in Vocology including one course change and seven course additions. Dr. Sisk motioned to approve the proposal, change and additions, Dr. Moss seconded the motion, and the Council unanimously approved.
The associated course change and additions to the aforementioned proposal were submitted to the Graduate Council:

College of Graduate Studies
Dr. Harn presented an item for discussion to the Graduate Council on the subject of
accepting graduate transfer credit from institutions with and without regional accreditation.
Further discussion on this item will be placed on the March agenda.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the Wimberly Bldg.,
