Mr. Wong – Currently, 8 full scholarship players and 2 walk-on players.  Once a week, the team helps the Lamar University club tennis team.  Goal is to help tennis players get better, but also to help grow as people and become productive adults.

When Mr. Wong took over the program, it wasn’t fully funded.  It became fully funded in 2006.  Earned one conference championship.  Finished 2nd last year.  This year, Mr. Wong thinks they will finish between 1-4.  Teaches the players how to handle adversity and compete.  Jon Flanigan has been a volunteer assistant for 16 years.  Works a lot on mental training and how to deal with pressure.

Mr. Wong would like to have a new facility and new configuration of the courts so that all 6 singles play on the stadium courts.  Also, wants to have a locker room at the facility.  Always working to recruit better players and thinks facility improvements will help this.   The team has a lot of community support and they do a lot of community service.

Dr. Zaloom – Discussed the tennis team and talked about a former player that received an academic scholarship in place of an athletics scholarship.

Mr. Henderson discussed the NCAA GSR – to be released in 2 weeks.  Gave credit to the academic staff.
