Lamar University's Enterprise Cybersecurity Certificate is a graduate program that offers you the opportunity to study information security principles and theories that focus on asset protection. In this program, students learn network security basics, security policies and procedures, network monitoring, and risk analysis and assessment.
This program is designed for working professionals and graduate students. It provides a critical understanding of technological needs, threats and weaknesses. Upon graduation, you will be prepared for roles in risk management, network defense, incident response and controls implementation, often bridging practical skills with strategic security management.
Information Assurance and Security: This course will provide the student the opportunity to learn about the element comprising Information Assurance and Security. Information Assurance and Security is a topic of increasing importance for many organizations as threats to computer and network systems continues to increase and evolve. It is imperative that the information organization store in their systems be protected from unauthorized disclosure, modification or destruction. This course provides an in-depth presentation of information assurance concepts, terminologies, models and practices. The topics covered in this course include but not limited to: Organizational Security Management, Cryptography, Physical Security, Infrastructure Security, Intrusion Detection Systems, Network Security and Risk.
Cybersecurity Networking: This course provides students with a basic understanding of how networks are built and operate and gives students some experience with basic network analysis tools.
Cybersecurity Programming Fund: This course provides students with the basic ability to create simple scripts/programs to automate and perform simple operations and the skills necessary to implement algorithms using programming languages to solve problems. This includes basic security practices in developing scripts/programs.
Cybersecurity Management: Students will acquire knowledge necessary to implement cybersecurity programs and policies to protect an organization's systems and data. This course covers topics such as cybersecurity policy and governance, policy organization, format and style, cybersecurity frameworks, asset management and data loss prevention, cybersecurity incident response and business continuity management.
Cybersecurity Governance: This course provides students with the understanding of information assurance in context and the rules and guidelines that control them.
Obtaining a certificate in enterprise cybersecurity will lead to diverse roles, moving from entry-level monitoring (security operations center analyst) to advanced design (architect) and leadership (Chief Information Security Officer).
