Students in Lamar University’s Art Department painted a collaborative canvas inspired by the abstract styling's of Jaxon Pollock at the Art Department building on October 8.

“We’d thought he’d be great because there are so many (other) people doing it, and anyone can collaborate,” Chloe Thompson, Beaumont senior said.

Kenadi Hagan, Beaumont senior, said Pollock is an artist she finds inspiring with his use if abstract expressionism in his works.

The students working on the piece hope to hang it up in the art department.

“We want to beautify the department more (since) we don’t have a lot of decorations,” Hagan said.

Students were joined by two other professors, along with Interim Department Chair Stephanie Chadwick.

“They’ve been wanting to do this kind of thing and have been talking about it for a while,” Chadwick said.
