When it comes to Christmas spirit, Hollie Atkins is brimming with it. The Lumberton senior has a vast collection of holiday items and decorations. “I have bags full of sweaters that I add to every year, bags of socks, blankets, mugs, earrings, a watch, a robe, a couple pairs of Christmas shoes and I even have my bathroom decorated,” she says. Hollie’s bathroom has a year-round Christmas theme. There are always Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling, Christmas mugs on the counter, a Santa Claus toilet seat cover, and even a Christmas shower curtain with an image of Santa in swimwear on a beach. “The shower curtain is my favorite because I feel like it describes Texas perfectly, because it literally does not get cold here,” the advertising major says. Hollie’s real Christmas obsession revolves around her sweaters. During her eighth-grade year, her mother took her to a Goodwill where they picked out tacky Christmas sweaters, Hollie says. “Every year after that, it became my favorite tradition for the two of us to go to Goodwill together,” she says. Hollie plans to wear a different sweater every day of December. “It has gotten to the point where all my friends know me as the Christmas girl,” she says. “My name is Hollie, so Christmas in my blood.”
