Added lights, updated safety app LiveSafe, and campus security officers constantly on patrol make for a better learning environment. It’s comforting to know that Lamar and the campus police department are taking the steps necessary to prevent crime on and around campus.

The new LiveSafe app features are great. It was a pleasant surprise to hear the announcement — now students, faculty, staff and even parents can feel better knowing that they or their loved ones will be looked after.

In addition to personal safety, the new app also allows students to report maintenance issues — another good idea that will prevent people from tripping on broken sidewalks or slipping on water from leaking roofs.

Safety precautions and up-keep measures make Lamar a more attractive campus for prospective students and gives current students an incentive to stay.

Lamar should continue to develop programs that improve the college experience — it will not only improve recruitment campaigns, but also aid in increasing retention rates.
