The Lamar University Dance Team is a well-uniformed and diverse organization that offers a style and performance level that sets them apart. The members of this prestigious and growing dance team display their vast abilities while supporting Lamar University at athletic events, community activities, and their annual show.

These collegiate dance team members are as diverse as the styles of dance they present, excelling not only as a team, but also as individuals. The Lamar University Dance Team receives generous scholarships that can provide up to 50 percent of tuition based on skills, years on the team, and leadership status.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Lamar University Dance Team is committed to providing team members with the opportunity to develop creativity, excel academically, grow personally, embody school spirit, and appreciate the arts through entertainment.

SERVICE

The members serve as ambassadors of Lamar University, while participating in many service projects and volunteer activities throughout the community and on campus. They strive to maintain the standards of the organization.

DIVERSITY

Members on our team come from a diverse background. Incoming members are from our region, around the state, and out of state. This diversity is what makes our team outstanding as they draw from each other’s strengths and experiences to succeed.

SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are dependent upon yearly budget allowances, as well as members meeting the 2.0 GPA requirement and full time student status. Other factors such as attitude, effort, and overall performance of each member as determined by the coach also affect amount awarded.

  • All members: $1000/semester
  • 3 and 4 year members: additional $300/semester
  • Top 4 audition scorers: additional $300/semester
  • Captains and Officers: awarded additional amounts based on merit
  • On-Campus Housing: additional $1500/semester
