CITI Compliance Training

Getting started with CITI

If you already have an account with CITI:  click on the "Log In" button. Enter your username and password. Scroll to the bottom and click "Add a Course". Choose and add desired courses. Answer "No" on required questions. Complete all required modules.

If you are a new user: Click Register

  • Enter your organization affiliation: Lamar University and agree to the terms of service and affirm that  you are affiliated with Lamar by checking the appropriate boxes.
  • Enter personal information.
  • Create a username and password.
  • Answer the next series of questions. Answer "No" to continuing education and complete the other questions. Answer No to all that do not apply. (Do not leave blank)
  • Click "Finalize Registration".

Choose course based on the following:

Faculty Training Requirements

Either Social and Behavioral Research (majority) or Biomedical Research. (Found in Question #2)

Student Training Requirements

If you are the leader of a research project, completing a Thesis or dissertation, or plan to publish your data you must also complete either the Social and Behavioral Research (majority need this) or the Biomedical Research Course. (These are listed as Question 2 in CITI when choosing your course)

Clinical Researchers

This course should be combined with one of the Basic Research courses and is only used for research involved in clinical trials.

A research study in which one or more human subjects are prospectively assigned to one or more interventions (e.g., intervention, placebo, or other control) to evaluate the effects of those interventions on health-related biomedical or behavioral outcomes.
