Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum offers free 'Back -to-School Day'

Do you need a place to go and have fun with your kids before they return to school? Spindletop-Gladys City will hold a free “Back-to-School” Day on August 20, 2016!  

The gusher will blow at 1 p.m. The blacksmith will working in the Southern Carriage Works 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Admission is free all day. Last admission is at 4:20 p.m. and the store will close at 4:30 p.m.

“Having children myself, I know how there is anticipation building and children need a place to go while they are waiting for that 1st day. We want to provide a great place for families to spend together before school schedules dominate the family,” museum director Troy Gray said.

Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown is a replica of the boomtown that grew up around the Spindletop oil fields in the early 1900s. Located on US 69 at Jimmy Simmons Blvd. in Beaumont, the museum is open Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.  The usual entrance fee is $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and $2 for children under 12.
