A Cappella Choir performs third annual "Love U" concert

LU choral concert

Lamar University's A Cappella Choir, under the direction of conductor James Han, will perform its third "Love U" concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 1, in the Dishman Art Museum. An annual spring tradition, "Love U" celebrates the genre of love songs from the Elizabethan era through today. Admission is free and open to the public.

"We always have a wonderful response to our 'Love U' concert," said Han, director of choral activities for the Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music. "We hope that our audience will join us again this year as we celebrate these timeless choral works in the beautiful Dishman Art Museum.

Selections include William Byrd's "Ave Verum Corpus" and Emma Lou Diemer's "Three Madrigals," featuring text taken from William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," "Measure for Measure" and "Much Ado About Nothing." Modern selections include music from Leonard Bernstein, Dan Forrest and young rising American composer Daniel Elder.
