LU Theatre presents 'The Glass Menagerie'

Glass MenagerieLamar University's Department of Theatre and Dance will perform Tennessee Williams' semi-autobiographical masterpiece "The Glass Menagerie," Feb. 26 to March 1, in the Studio Theatre.

In this classic drama of American theatre, Amanda Wingfield, an aging Southern Belle, longs for her youth and dreams of a better life for her children. Her restless son, Tom, a would-be poet and the story’s narrator, gets swept up in his mother’s funny and heartbreaking schemes to find his painfully shy sister, Laura, a husband.

Faculty member Joel Grothe directs the production. The cast of four features theatre and dance majors Chloe Sullivan of Kountze as Amanda Wingfield; Sydney Haygood, Friendswood, as Laura Wingfield; Chaz Romero, Orangefield, as Tom Wingfield; and Thomas Gentry, Friendswood, as Jim O'Connor.

The Studio Theatre is located at 4400 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway on the LU campus. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26-28, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 1. Tickets are $15 for general admission; $10 for senior citizens, students and LU faculty/staff; and $7 for LU students.
