LU contributes in Setzer Student Center Food Drive

Participants in Food DriveIndividuals and families in need will benefit from the generosity of Lamar University student organizations and departments that participated in the 18th annual Setzer Student Center Food Drive.

The LU community donated more than 7,300 non-perishable food items (weighing about 5,000 pounds) to the Southeast Texas Food Bank December 8.

EMPOWERMENT, the interest group of Delta Xi Nu Multicultural Sorority, Inc. and the Department of Information Technology were top givers. Of LU's more than 175 student organizations, EMPOWERMENT donated the most items at 2,570. Information Technology was the largest departmental donor, contributing 2,551 items. “These two outstanding groups will receive special recognition at the Toast to Leadership ceremony on April 22,” said Valarie Daniels, director of Student Organization Services.

“Once again, the Setzer Student Center thanks all participants in the 18th Annual Setzer Student Center Food Drive,” Daniels said. “We truly appreciate their outstanding dedication and commitment to assisting others in the Golden Triangle.”Food Bank
