Srini Chittaluru scholarship established

The Lamar University Foundation has announced an endowed scholarship has been established for the College of Engineering. The Srini Chittaluru Graduate Research Scholarship in Engineering will provide funding for outstanding students to further their studies at Lamar.

“This scholarship will make obtaining a graduate degree in engineering a possibility for some interested students who otherwise would not be able to afford to further their education in engineering,” said Victor Zaloom, dean of the College of Engineering. “It has the additional benefit of requiring a research experience which will be used to attract excellent students as well as increase the research profile of the College of Engineering.”

While earning a master’s degree in Engineering from Lamar University, Chittaluru received a scholarship, helping him qualify for in-state tuition fees and paying for some of his living expenses. Chittaluru elected to endow this scholarship in appreciation of the opportunity he felt Lamar University provided him to continue his further education in the United States, which has enabled him to pursue a successful career.

Chittaluru has worked for companies such as General Electric and Microsoft, and worked as a consultant for companies such as ExxonMobil, Texas Instruments, and Conoco. Currently, Chittaluru works as an IT/Management Consultant.
