Renovated Barnes & Noble Bookstore grand opening set

Following extensive renovations, the newly remodeled Barnes & Noble at Lamar University bookstore - featuring an expansive array of textbooks, general reading books, school supplies and other collegiate merchandise - will hold its grand opening celebration Wednesday, Oct. 31.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. and the event will include refreshments, a Facebook scavenger hunt and special sales. The first 100 customers will receive an eco-friendly tote.

The remodeled bookstore in the Setzer Student Center includes an expanded convenience food section featuring fresh and frozen foods; coffee bar; Cardinal Shop, with a larger selection of Lamar spirit apparel and gifts; and a new student lounge overlooking the courtyard with seating for 31.

"We're thrilled with the new renovation," said bookstore manager Brian Esquivel. "Now, we can offer Lamar University students and faculty even more of what they want and need to succeed academically - while also making this the ideal place to gather, study or just grab a quick bite to eat.
