The Office of Multicultural Student Retention Programs and Services believes that having a mentor is a part of the key to a successful undergraduate career here at LU. MSRPS office created a Mentoring Program to help students' retention and academic success: Men of Excellence, UNIDAD Scholars, and Women of Excellence Programs. Through the mentoring program, we hope mentors and mentees will build lasting connections and professional relationships to benefit the future.
Mentoring is to support and encourage people to manage their own learning to maximize their potential, develop their skills, improve their performance, and become the person they want to be.
Mentorship has proven to help students succeed in their academic and professional careers. Simply finding a few hours a month in your calendar can open life-changing doors. But with our busy schedules, it can be hard to know where to start. Through the MSRPS Mentoring Programs, Mentors and Mentees will invest and personalize their mentoring experience.
C.A.R.E.S. is constructed of current faculty and staff at Lamar University who is passionate about students' success. The purpose of C.A.R.E.S. is to provide students(mentees) with guide/professional advice from mentors that had experience in the job field in different careers.
