Licensing Approval

Student organizations and university departments who wish to use Lamar University marks on apparel (T-shirts, hats, sweatshirts), gift items and miscellaneous items need to follow these steps:

  1. Download the Internal Licensing Approval Form
  2. All items with a Lamar University trademark (name, logo, etc.) must be manufactured by a vendor licensed by Lamar University. See Local Vendors and Lamar University Licensees.
  3. Create a sketch of the proposed design or describe in detail what it will look like. (The design must be submitted with the Internal Licensing Approval Form to be reviewed and approved by Marketing prior to creating artwork by the vendor.)
  4. Complete the Internal Licensing Approval Form and email the form and a copy of the artwork to Daniel McLemore.
  5. Once the artwork/product proof and approval form is received, the licensing director will review your submission. You will receive a notification email from the licensing director detailing if the artwork/product proof is approved, approved with changes or denied.
(Typically, the review process is 2-5 university business days. Each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure compliance with Lamar University policies.)
  6. If the artwork/product proof is approved, contact the vendor to finalize the design and have them submit the design on Affinity Licensing website.
  7. If your artwork/product proof is not approved, but will be with corrective changes, you will receive an email clarifying the changes needed for approval. It is your responsibility to ensure the vendor makes the corrective changes and submits the design on Affinity Licensing website.
(Merchandise produced without authorization infringes on Lamar University's trademarks and will be subject to all available legal remedies.)
  8. If your artwork/product proof is not approved, you will receive an email detailing why your design was denied. Should this occur, you have the option to redesign the artwork/product proof and start the approval process over.
(Merchandise produced without authorization infringes on Lamar University's trademarks and will be subject to all available legal remedies.)
