Teaching online can be a rewarding experience, providing you are equipped with the proper tools. All effective online courses are foundationally based on sound pedagogical principles. Effective modes of communication, proper methods of assessments, and maintaining an active engagement with your students are all key to running a great online course.   • How do I request an empty Blackboard course shell?
  1. Email blackboard@lamar.edu the course(s) you would like to have a shell for.
  • When will the section be available?
  1. Every effort is made to release courses in Blackboard two weeks prior to a term. Thereafter new sections added to Banner will be added to Blackboard at 8am, 2pm, 8pm, and 2 am.
  • When do the students gain access to their courses?
  1. Two business days before class is scheduled to begin.
  • When are the class rosters updated?
  1. Rosters will be updated at 8 am, 2 pm, 8 pm and 2 am. Roster updates will include name changes, drops and adds. If you are no longer teaching a course, the course will no longer appear in your course list.
