Julie A. Chappell received her Ph.D. from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1989. She is a professor of English and lives and writes in central Texas. She is the editor and translator of The Prose Alexander of Robert Thornton (1992). With Kamille Stone Stanton she has edited two collections of scholarly essays on eighteenth-century literature and culture, Transatlantic Literature in the Long Eighteenth Century and Spectacle, Sex, and Property in Eighteenth-Century Literature and Culture (AMS Press, forthcoming). Her monograph, Perilous Passages: The Book of Margery Kempe, 1534-1934 was released by Palgrave Macmillan in September 2013. A new Palgrave volume, Women during the English Reformations: Renegotiating Gender and Religious Identity, which she co-edited with Kaley A. Kramer, will be released in November 2014. She also co-edited a collection of creative works, Writing Texas, released in March 2014 by Lamar University Press. Her collection of original poetry, Faultlines: One Woman's Shifting Boundaries, was published by Village Books Press in October 2013. A memoir of her years as "the sheriff's daughter," The Jail/House Rocked, is in progress.
