Hurricane Laura Info

University Updates

Lamar University officials have completed the necessary assessments and cleanup of campus to enable a safe return. With this storm in particular, we have seen first-hand the difference ten miles can make in a major hurricane’s landfall. Our thoughts are with those during this time who were affected by Hurricane Laura and its aftermath.

Lamar University will reopen residence halls on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 3 p.m. with all classes resuming as previously scheduled on Monday, Aug. 31.

Our faculty and staff are ready to help and support our campus community through this difficult time. We need to know what things you may be struggling with so we can ensure we have the proper resources in place. Please complete the form on this page in order for us to assess your needs.

The last day for a full refund on dropped courses has been extended to Tuesday, Sept. 8 to allow students to assess their specific situations before making long-term decisions.

Faculty have been asked to provide the highest level of support during these difficult times. Please reach out to your professors as soon as possible to let them know the challenges you may be facing in the coming weeks.
