Remote Access Service

Lamar University provides secure remote access via Virtual Private Network (VPN) for faculty, staff and students.  Once connected, information is securely transmitted over the Internet and into the campus network.

LEA 2-Step will be required for remote access for faculty and staff after August 22, 2017.  Faculty and staff can register by visiting LEA 2-Step.

Tips for Students:

  • You are not required to register or use LEA 2-Step for remote access.   
  • Proceed to Step 2 in the relevant remote access setup guide.
  • If you have already registered for LEA 2-Step, please contact the Service Desk at 409.880.2222 or via email at so your registration can be removed.

VPN provides access to the following campus resources:

  • Campus file-shares
  • Campus printers
  • Remote access to PCs
  • Internal Applications such as Banner, syllabi portal, Argos, etc.
  • Departmental SSH Servers
