What is MATLAB?

MATLAB is a high-performance language for technical computing. It integrates computation, visualization, and programming in an easy-to-use environment where problems and solutions are expressed in familiar mathematical notation.

Lamar University offers a campus-wide license to MATLAB and companion products.  All faculty and students are eligible to use cloud based MATLAB Online via their internet browser.

Get MATLAB Online (Cloud Based)

  1. Go to the Lamar University MATLAB Portal.
  2. Click MATLAB Online (Browser Access) in the Use MATLAB on the Cloud box. 
  3. Login with your LEA, the account you use to login to LU Email and LU Learn.
  4. You will be asked to create a MathWorks Account. Once you do that, you will be associated to our MATLAB license and will be able to:

Get MATLAB for Lamar University-Owned Computer

Call the Service Desk at 409-880-2222 for support on a Lamar University-owned computer.

Need to get up to speed on MATLAB?

  1. Go to the LU MATLAB Portal.
  2. Click Get free training in the MATLAB Training box and complete the 2-hour MATLAB Onramp Tutorial.

  1. Go to the LU MATLAB Portal.
  2. Click Installation Help in the MATLAB Help box to get assistance from MathWorks Customer Service.
