jouridini pictureDr. Mustapha Jourdini, Director

A former F-1 student from Morocco, Dr. Jourdini served as the President of International Student Association. He is active with NAFSA, Association of International Educators. Dr. Jourdini holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies with a specialization in international education from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU). His published research examines the impact of international students, cultural stereotypes, and bigotry. He is passionate about serving and advocating for international students and scholars. 

Prior to joining Lamar University, Dr. Jourdini served international students and scholars at Lesley University, Pellissippi State Community College, Al Akhawayn University, and Eastern Kentucky University.

hymer pictureMargo Hymer, Assistant Director

Ms. Hymer is a Texas native, a Lamar University alumna, and a Southeast Texas transplant. She has several years of experience working in higher education.  Ms. Hymer is eager to have returned to OISPS.  She is looking forward to working with the international student community, faculty and staff.

joshua pictureJoshua Kai, Coordinator

Joshua Kai joined Lamar University as the OISPS Coordinator in September 2018. He was born in Taipei, Taiwan and lived in Hong Kong as well as numerous states including New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, California, and, of course, the great state of Texas! Mr. Kai holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Rochester and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Prior to joining Lamar University, Mr. Kai served domestic and international medical students as DSO and Manager of Distance Learning Operations at Becker Professional Education.

bourgeois pictureTracy Bourgeois, Sr. Specialist

Tracy Bourgeois was born in Fort Worth, TX, and recently moved to the Beaumont area.  She has been employed by Lamar University since 2015.  Ms. Bourgeois is excited to start this new adventure in the Office of International Student Programs and Services.  She enjoys traveling, hanging out at the beach and watching football.  Go Cowboys!

Mr. Frederick is an Iowa native and a veteran of the Army National Guard. Before graduating from Lamar University in 2016, he spent a summer studying abroad in Spain, finding a new love for international travel and experience. He has his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. His hobbies include playing guitar, mechanic work, and writing.
