A professional set and costume designer, Liz Freese has designed for more than 120 Houston theatre and opera productions for companies such as Houston Grand Opera, Stages Repertory Theatre, Main Street Theater, Ad Players, Ensemble Theatre and Unity Theatre. Her work has been produced internationally in London and Ukraine and has been published in The New York Times, Opera America, Houston PBS, Houston Chronicle and the Houston Press. She was awarded best scenic design by the Houston Press in 2018.  

Currently she is working on set designs for the world premiere of "Turn and Burn" for Houston Grand Opera, "The Nutcracker" for the Houston Ballet Ensemble, "Respect: A Musical Journey of Women" for The Ensemble Theater and "Junie B Essential Survival Guide for School" for Main Street Youth Theater. 

Freese previously served as associate professor of set design at Sam Houston State University. She has also taught for San Jacinto South, Alley Theatre, and the Paola Cultural Center.
