Yvonne Bonnie Haines received a Bachelor’s of Music in oboe performance from Baylor University and a Master’s of Music in oboe performance from the University of Houston. She has been the English hornist for the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra since 2002. She is principal oboist of the Houston Sinfonietta, and second oboist of the Lake Charles Symphony.

In the fall of 2011, Ms. Haines was appointed adjunct double reed instructor at Lamar. She continues to teach in Houston at The Village School.

An active member of the International Double Reed Society, Ms. Haines has participated in the Austin and Ithaca conventions. In 2008, she made her world debut in an all English horn recital at the IDRS 2008 Conference in Provo, Utah, where she performed Schumann’s Fantasy Pieces, Cantaloube’s Songs from the Auvergne, and excerpts from Heiftz’s Porgy and Bess all transcribed for English horn. Ms. Haines works with Howarth of London to educate and develop young double reed players. Her main teachers include Anne Leek (Houston Symphony), Doris DeLoach (Waco Symphony), Liviu Varcol (Frankfurt Radio Orchestra) and Bob Atherholt (Houston Symphony).
