Beth Gallaspy has more than 20 years experience working in the mass media. She began her career as a newspaper journalist while still in college, working as an intern then a freelance writer at The Clarion Ledger in Jackson, Mississippi, and an intern at The Mississippi Press in her hometown of Pascagoula, Mississippi. Ms. Gallaspy was a reporter at The Vicksburg Evening Post in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and a reporter and features editor at The Beaumont Enterprise in Beaumont, Texas, where she worked for 12 years.

As marketing specialist in the Lamar University Public Relations Department for six years, Ms. Gallaspy was responsible for advertising production and placement, video production, content creation and editing for websites, magazine writing and editing, and media relations including writing and distributing news releases.

In addition to teaching, Ms. Gallaspy is currently a freelance writer and editor working for clients including local magazines VIP of Southeast Texas and EventsBook. She is a member and past board member of the Press Club of Southeast Texas and is an avid supporter of visual and performing arts.
