Natacha Poggio joined the Department of Art at Lamar University in 2015 as an assistant professor of graphic design. Ms. Poggio is a social impact strategist, educator and passionate advocate of design for social change. Before joining LU, she taught visual communication design at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. Ms. Poggio is the founder and director of Design Global Change, a design based collaborative working with local and international communities in social impact projects.

In her research, Ms. Poggio explores how to contribute solutions to humanitarian issues of critical urgency. With 20 years of professional design practice, she brings a human-centered approach to her work with partners in the social sector, designing solutions to address wellness, sustainability, and social justice problems within local and international communities. Her international development work has been recognized by several organizations through honors and grants; of most significance, Ms. Poggio is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Sappi "Ideas that Matter" award for her awareness campaigns on gender equality and empowering girls in India, as well as developing educational materials for the rehabilitation of amputees in developing countries through LIMBS International.

In her teaching, Ms. Poggio focuses on the role the environment plays in people's lives and encourages students to find solutions that will inspire positive change in society through service-learning projects that educate them on the impact and importance of their work –bridging worlds, whether locally or internationally– so that their design solutions address the needs of their audiences.

Ms. Poggio is a frequent speaker on the value of design to address social challenges at national and international conferences. She was a TEDx conference speaker and served as a judge for AIGA (Re)Design awards international competition. Since 2011, she has been a fellow of the Winterhouse Institute, and active in its Design Education for Social Change Symposium, where nationally recognized educators gathered annually to discuss the teaching and practice of social innovation design in undergraduate and graduate design education.

Ms. Poggio is a native of Argentina, bilingual speaker of Spanish and English, and has traveled over 20 countries.
