B.S. in Data Analytics and Computation:

  • Stefan Andrei explained the changes in the proposed degree plan.
  • The course changes need to be submitted for review on the proper forms for each change made.
  • The course COSC 2372 and took away one of the math courses.
  • Degree still requires 123 hours
  • Language and course alignment still unclear. Was suggested to move CPSC to the electives list but there was some discussion as to the feasibility of this.
  • Motion was made to send the degree plan back to the department by Eileen Curl and seconded by Judy Smith. Motion was approved by acclamation.
B.S.N in Nursing Curriculum Plans for Fall and Spring admissions:
  • Need to delete the statement +1 NURS 1102 Pre-Nursing Elective as it appears that the course is added to the prescribed 120 hours. However, in the explanations at the bottom of the page it is made clear that this is an elective which may be taken but is not necessary for the degree.
  • Several courses flagged as being University Core Curriculum that are actually only required by the Nursing program for admission. Courses included: Microbiology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Lifespan and Statistics. Need to delete the flag designation for University Core Curriculum. Motion to approve pending the changes outlined above by Boyd Lanier and seconded by Stefan Andrei. Approved by acclamation.
CHEN 2140:
  • A course calendar was missing from the course Syllabus. Boyd Lanier received a copy of a schedule that is apparently handed out at the beginning of class each semester. Recommended that it be made a permanent part of the Syllabus.
  • Needs to re-label Course Objectives to Student Learning Outcomes and add the sentence Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:….
  • Office Hours had been added on Mondays.
  • Missing the attendance policy
  • Judy Smith made a motion to approve with revisions; Lula Henry Seconded
  • Approved by acclamation.
CHEN 3330:
  • Needs a schedule of when class content is going to be taught. Has a topic outline but not schedule of when each topic will be covered of when exams will be scheduled.
  • Inconsistent language regarding Quizzes, also list two midterms and the grading scale needs to be clarified.
  • Paul Hemenway motioned to send the syllabus back to the department for clarification; Stefan Andrei seconded, Motion approved by acclamation.
CHEN 4150:
  • Needs to re-label Course Objectives to Student Learning Outcomes and add the sentence Upon completion of the course the student will be able to ….
  • Recommended that the schedule of content dates that appeared for the spring semester 2017 to weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. instead of using actual dates.
  • The topic outline and schedule resulted in much discussion. There was no legend of how to interpret the calendar and the team sign ups of A1, A2, B1, B2, etc was unclear.
  • There was no attendance policy included on the syllabus
  • Judy Smith made a motion to send the syllabus back to the department for corrections and clarifications; Kami Makki seconded. Approved by acclamation.

For those syllabi reviewed today that require revisions: once those revisions are completed, Boyd Lanier will send them out for an electronic vote of approval.
