Syllabus template:
  • It is noted that people must have administrative access to their computers to install the software necessary for the syllabus template. This has led to some people not being able to try the software.
  • It is currently designed to run on PC platform. A Mac version is in process.
  • Your computer must have Visual Studio in order to run the syllabus template.
  • A number of enhancements have been made to the template.
  • The font has been changed.
  • It now flags inadequate office hours (less than 6 hours).
  • The “upload from previous syllabus” button has been added.
  • The college and departmental policies will soon be available for inclusion.
  • Once the template is complete, it will have to go through an extensive approval process. It will include the UCC, the faculty senate, the CID, the administration (including Deans). It would be wise to check with the graduate curriculum council. Tony Martin of the OPAA will also have to sign off.
ELEN 2411:
  • The syllabus needs a schedule.
  • There is no continuity statement.
  • Lab instructor contact information needs to be included.
  • The co-requisite needs to be on the syllabus.
  • The course descriptions need to match on syllabus and form.
  • The DRC statement needs to be updated. It is missing the final bullet point.
  • Clarify what is contained in the lab.
  • Remove the “information above” statement.
  • Molly Dahm made a motion to return the course to the department to be redone and resubmitted. Zanthia Smith seconded the motion, and it carried.
NURS 3320:
  • There is a typo on the maximum repeat hours on the form.
  • Is there a difference between co-requisites and companion courses? Clarify this.
  • The pre-requisite, co-requisite and companion courses need to match on the form and syllabus.
  • The 5 day limit needs to be removed from the DRC policy.
  • Nicki Michalski made a motion to approve the course with changes. Lula Henry seconded the motion, and it carried.
NURS 3230:
  • Molly Dahm made a motion to approve the deletion of the course. Lula Henry seconded the motion, and the motion carried.
NURS 4390:

Nursing Degree Plan:
  • Move the Arts and Sciences college requirements to the additional course area or add a notation that the 2 extra hours in the core are “other” than core requirement.
  • Molly Dahm made a motion to accept the course with the specified notation. Lula Henry seconded the motion, and it carried.

Adjournment: 5:00 p.m.

The next meeting is scheduled for August 15, 2016.
