Call to Order: 3:36 p.m., Boyd Lanier presiding

Approval of Minutes: Lula Henry made a motion to approve the minutes from the last meeting. Boyd Lanier seconded the motion, and it was approved.

 

  • SPAN 3311:
    • The pre-requisites need to match on form and syllabus.
    • Change the title on the form to “special topics”.
    • Change the title on the DRC policy.
    • Drop the duplicate academic continuity policy that is under the Emergency Procedures heading.
    • Judy Smith made a motion to approve the course with revisions. Stefan Andrei seconded the motion, and it passed.
  • Syllabus Template:
    • The team added the “upload previous file” button to allow the computer to fill in many of the spots.
    • The faculty member can then fill in and change information as needed.
    • The default needs to be changed to 7 days per week for both office hours and classes.
    • It is possible to copy a table into the course outline section.
    • There needs to be a button at the end to add extra policies (college, department, course, etc.).
    • A space needs to be added before “catalog course description”.
    • Bold only the titles.
    • The template will be an option for Fall to give faculty time to try it out.
    • There will be a survey done after that to determine how big the desire is for the template program
    • It will probably be implemented in Spring for everyone.
    • The council members will receive an email with contact information so that we can do a test run of the template.
    • The teacher education degree plans will be dealt with after the PEDG and READ classes are done.
  • DSDE 1377:
    • The final line of the DRC policy is missing.
    • The academic honesty policy (including penalties) needs to be added.
    • Fix the typo is Cherry Building.
    • Judy Smith made a motion to approve the course with changes. Lula Henry seconded the motion, and it passed.
  • DSDE 2372:
    • The final line of the DRC policy is missing.
    • There is a typo in the pre-requisite on the syllabus.
    • A course outline needs to be added.
    • Move the pre-requisite to its own space/heading.
    • Nicki Michalski made a motion to approve the course with changes. Boyd Lanier seconded the motion, and it was approved.
  • DSDE 2378:
    • The pre-requisite needs to be on the form and syllabus.
    • The course descriptions need to match.
    • List the pre-requisite minimum C on syllabus and form.
    • The DRC is missing its final line.
    • Judy Smith made a motion to approve the course with revisions. Lula Henry seconded the motion, and it passed.
  • DSDE 3301:
    • Add the pre-requisite to the course description.
    • The pre-requisite needs a minimum grade.
    • The DRC is missing its final line.
    • Add a course schedule to the syllabus.
    • Bold the heading for the Academic Honesty Policy.
    • Judy Smith made a motion to approve the course with revisions. Lula Henry seconded the motion, and it passed.
  • DSDE 3307:
    • The pre-requisite needs a minimum grade.
    • Fix the typo on objective 11.
    • The DRC is missing its final line.
    • Clarify that it is 50 points each in the presentation description.
    • The syllabus needs to include actual office hours.
    • Check the syllabus for errors caused by scanning or conversion.
    • Change Tom Matthews’ title to Director of Assessment.
    • Drop “course” from the course description heading. You could use the title “further information”.
    • Lula Henry made a motion to accept the course with changes. Judy Smith seconded the motion, and it passed.
  • DSDE 4308:
    • The pre-requisite needs a minimum grade.
    • Drop “course” from the course description heading. You could use the title “further information”.
    • The DRC policy needs its final line.

  • MEEN 2301:
    • In the justification for change, 3223 should be 3320.
    • Add the CB administration code.
    • Change dishonesty to honesty policy.
    • Judy Smith made a motion to approve the course with revisions. Paul Corder seconded the motion, and it passed.
  • MEEN 2372:
    • Add the CB administration code.
    • Be more specific regarding penalties in the academic honesty policy and include a reference to the handbook.
    • The DRC policy is missing its final line.
    • Include a heading for the continuity policy.
    • Include time (week 1, etc.) on the course topic list.
    • Paul Corder made a motion to approve the course with changes. Lula Henry seconded the motion, and it passed.
