Call to order: 3:33 p.m.

Approval of Minutes: Lula Henry made a motion to approve the minutes. The motion was seconded by Judy Smith and carried.

Old Business:

• CPSC 4326: the following changes are requested:
  • Correct the form to read 45 hours.
  • Amend the course justification by removing the comment about financial aid.
  • Specify what is covered on the midterm and final examinations (this is nice but not a required change).
  • On the form, the “minimum grade of C” needs to be removed from the pre-requisite portion of the form and put into the grade area. It should also state “for CS Majors”. This needs to also be in the catalog description.
  • George Kenyon made a motion to accept the course with the changes. Judy Smith seconded the motion and it carried.
• CPSC 4327: the following changes are requested:
  • Correct the form to read 45 hours.

  • There is no course description on the syllabus although the first 2 sentences under objectives could be used.
  • The attendance policy needs clarification beyond what you need to do if you are an A student.
  • It is unclear if the units in the schedule are weeks.
  • The objectives are not objectives (this is an observation, not a required change).
  • The academic integrity policy needs to be strengthened and labeled.
  • Judy Smith made a motion to approve the class with changes. The motion was seconded by Lula Henry and carried.
• CPSC 4317: the following changes are requested:
  • The syllabus has the wrong course number.
  • Correct the form to read 45 hours.
  • The justification should read “course level incongruent with pre-requisite”.
  • On the form, the “minimum grade of C” needs to be removed from the pre-requisite portion of the form and put into the grade area. It should also state “for CS Majors”. This needs to also be in the catalog description.
  • Select either pre-requisite or co-requisite; it cannot be both.
  • Need to say “have taken course or test to demonstrate proficiency” in pre-requisites on the form and syllabus.
  • The topic outline needs to be in the correct order.
  • There is a typo on the grading scale (6.9.9).
  • Clarify if the project is a group project.
  • There needs to be a major heading identifying the academic integrity policy.
  • Consolidate the policies into one bullet per issue.
  • Clarify the attendance policy beyond what is required for an A.
  • Nicki Michalski made a motion to return the course for corrections. The motion was seconded by Lula Henry and carried.

New Business

• CVEN 4372: the following changes are requested:
  • Course descriptions need to match on the syllabus and form. The learning objective is actually the course description.
  • There is a typo on the form under “introduces”.
  • The form needs to read “45 hours”.
  • The pre-requisite needs to be on the syllabus.
  • The DRC statement is incomplete.
  • Make the topic of each policy more clear (use bold, underline or set up headings, etc.).
  • George Kenyon made a motion to approve the course with corrections. Judy Smith seconded the motion, and it carried.
• INEN 3180 and 3280: the following changes are requested:
  • The syllabi need to be different for each course.
  • The pre-requisite needs to be fixed on the forms and syllabi.
  • It is unclear if the courses may or may not be taken concurrently.
  • These courses cannot be part of the core curriculum because they are 3000 level.
  • The syllabus needs a specific email address.
  • The title needs to be changed in the DRC section.
  • The units need to be put in order or labeled as chapters.
  • George Kenyon made a motion to return the courses for correction and resubmission including the clarification between the lab and lecture elements. Boyd Lanier seconded the motion, and it carried.
