Call to Order: 3:34 p.m.

Approval of Minutes: Joe Kemble made a motion to approve the minutes from the last meeting. It was seconded by Judy Smith, and the motion passed.

 

Old Business:

  • GEOL 3311: the following issues were noted:
    • Principles is misspelled on the submission form.
    • The question was raised if Windows XP should be specified on the syllabus since the university no longer supports it.
    • Judy Smith mad a motion to approve the course with the correction and clarification. Iva Hall seconded the motion, and it carried.
  • GEOL 3315: the following issues were noted:
    • The pre-requisites need to match on the form and syllabus.
    • Boyd Lanier made a motion to approve the course with the correction.  Judy Smith seconded the motion, and it carried.
  • GEOL 3316: the following issues were noted:
    • The course info description can be broken into an official description (catalog) and additional information.
    • Lula Henry made a motion to approve the course with the correction. Judy Smith seconded the motion, and it carried.
  • GEOL 4312: the following issue was noted:
    • The course info description can be broken into an official description (catalog) and additional information.
    • Judy Smith made a motion to approve the course with the description change. Boyd Lanier seconded the motion, and it carried.
  • GEOL 4314: the following issue was noted:
    • The course info description can be broken into an official description (catalog) and additional information.
    • Judy Smith made a motion to approve the course with the description change. Iva Hall seconded the motion, and it carried.

 

New Business:

  • Business-Construction Management concentration degree plan:
    • Move the university core classes from the business core area to the university box.
    • Lula Henry made a motion to accept the plan with the changes. Zanthia Smith seconded the motion.
    • A friendly amendment was made noting that CMGT 2420 has a pre-req of MATH 1414 that is not on the plan. The class needs to be added to the plan or the requirement removed. At the least, the department needs to check the pre-requisite and verify the situation.
    • The friendly amendment was accepted, and the vote carried.
  • B.S. in Chemistry with CHEN option:
    • When the plan was put together, a pre-req class (CHEM 4311) was removed; it either needs to be waived or replaced.
    • The pre-req list has many errors that need to be fixed.
    • The abbreviations on the footnotes need to match those on the plan or be spelled out.
    • What counts as upper level CHEN hours (footnote 8) needs to be clarified.
    • The plan needs to also be approved by the chemical engineering department.
    • Footnote 9 course pre-reqs also need to be on the plan for both presented options.
    • Judy Smith made a motion to return the plan to the department for corrections. Iva Hall seconded the motion, and it carried.
  • BIOL 4443: 
    • The course title needs to match on syllabus and form.
    • The number of hours for the lab needs to be double checked.
    • The pre-reqs need to be put under their own heading.
    • 1406 needs to be added to the pre-req list.
    • Boyd Lanier made a motion to approve the course with changes. Zanthia Smith seconded the motion, and it carried.
  • MATH 1332: 
    • The course description needs to match on the syllabus and form.
    • The pre-req needs to be TSI 350 not THEA.
    • Office hours are needed on the syllabus.
    • The title on the form needs to be fixed.
    • Iva Hall made a motion to approve the course and forward it to the CCGAC. Lula Henry seconded the motion, and it carried.
