I. Call to Order by Lilian Felipe at 2:04 pm

II. Approval of Minutes: November 2024

  1. Motion to approve November 2024.
  2. Motion seconded by Ruthie Robinson.
  3. Motion passed by a 7-0 vote.

III. Updates from the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs Administration (ORSPA)

  1. Ryan Lee – Executive Director, Research and Sponsored Programs.
    • Staffing changes in ORSPA - Gavin Jones and Erin Lemoine no longer with ORSPA
    • Gene Theodori – New Associate Provost, Academic & Research Administration
    • R2 research status and roadmap to the future
    • Federal funding changes
    • Elimination of DEI initiatives
  2. Electronic Research Administrator – Raylynn Roche
    • Serving as IRB analyst
IV. Updates from the Chair
  1. Reminder of required CITI Training
    • Ryan Lee: Just a reminder that all board members need to complete CITI training even if they have completed training in the past. Sidenote: CITI training has a limitation of 3 years.

 V. Other Business Items

  1. 2025 Meetings Dates
    • May 7th at 2pm (if needed)
    • July 9th at 2pm (if needed)
    • October 1st at 2pm
    • December 3rd at 2pm
  2. Informed Consent
    • Ryan Lee: Issues with faculty using students’ data for research without getting informed consent or the students being aware. The goal is to develop guidelines to better define practices relating to faculty using students as human subjects instead of finding outside personnel. Find a way to protect the individual /student identity.
  3. Reminders
    • Ryan Lee: Encourage faculty and/or students to submit full board reviews a head of time for items that need to be discussed.
    • Shannon Jordan: Remind faculty to review student IRB submissions
