HONORS COUNCIL MINUTES:   October 24, 2016

PRESENT:  Kevin Dodson, Rebekah Maxwell, Jeff Palis, Nicki Michalski, Randy Yoder, Gina Hale, Mike Matthis, Xenia Federchenko, and Andrea Karlin.

Meeting was called to order at 3:40pm by Dr. Kevin Dodson.

DEAN’S REPORT:

Attended NCHC 2016 Conference.  Students presented at the Idea Exchange and the Poster Sessions.

Dr. Dodson is planning to hold a retreat for Honors Faculty this summer.

BUSINESS:

Guest Speakers Samantha Taylor, Assistant Director of Admissions, and Kayla Holloway, TSI Coordinator at the Undergraduate Advising Center spoke to the council about the new SAT scoring.  Council moved that the SAT component determining eligibility for admission of incoming freshmen to the Reaud Honors College be raised from 1200 to 1270 effective immediately.  Upon motion by Randy Yoder and seconded by Andrea Karlin, the new SAT score of 1270 was approved.

September 26, 2016 minutes were reviewed and upon motion by Gina Hale, seconded by Nicki Michalski, the minutes were approved.

We still need volunteers for the 2017 Summer Reading Club.
