HONORS COUNCIL MINUTES:   November 9, 2015

PRESENT:  Kevin Dodson, Rebekah Maxwell, Jeff Palis, Larry Allen, Nicki Michalski, Michael Saar, Ana Christensen, Clare Burns, Randy Yoder, Kathy Fraccastoro, and Andrea Karlin.

Meeting was called to order at 4:05pm by Dr. Kevin Dodson.

DEANS REPORT:

HNRS-4364 Study Abroad (Belize) proposal has been submitted to Jeff Palis.  Funds will be available for 12 students.

Dr. Dodson proposes that we need an updated/improved mission statement that ties in with the strategic plan.  He will come up with a draft for the next meeting.

Dr. Dodson discusses the potential conflict of Non-Course credit and the High Impact Education Requirement (HIEP).  He suggest that the Summer Reading Club count as HIEP. 

Dr. Dodson asked Honors Council for suggestions and feedback for the Reaud Honors College public lecture series.  He is going to try again to set-up Joseph Stiglitz but suggestions are welcome.

OTHER BUSINESS:

October 5, 2015 minutes were reviewed.  Upon motion by Kathy Fraccastoro, seconded by Nicki Michalski, the minutes were approved.
