Open discussion by Dr.s Evans and Nichols and Jeremy Alltop re: COVID19.

CID Attendees: Randall Terry, Sunny Lei, Stefan Andrei, Jim Sanderson, Mark Mengerink, Jeremy Alm, Phil Cole, Tom Sowers, Stuart Wright, Kakoli Bandyopadhyay, K.C. Sen, Johnny O’Connor, Jill Killough. T.C. Ho, Liv H., Gleb Tcheslavski, Hsing-Wei Chu, Donna Meeks, Natalie Tindall, Diane Clark, Brian Shook.

 

  1. No decision on whether the summer will remain f2f or be online at this time.
  2. Nichols will reach out to the retired faculty association for help connecting with them.
  3. All ongoing job searches are paused, even for online or phone interviews.
  4. According to the County Judges we are an essential service.
  5. For HR issues Bert Wagner is the contact.
  6. Nichols will work on a policy for those who may wish to consider P/F options. Caveat that changes may have negative implications for many students.
  7. May graduate commencement ceremony will probably be with August graduates, but split into two or more ceremonies by college groupings.
  8. Evans mentioned that if we are considering to possibly suspend student evaluations of faculty then there would still need to be other observational evaluations.
  9. Initially Summer and Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 were to count for the next biennium. Hopes are that this will be modified somehow.
  10. They are many online support workshops and links will be provided next week by the administration.
  11. There will also be listings of where there might be additional computer access for students.
  12. Most students are moving out of the residential halls. Food service options will still be offered to those who must remain.
  13. Brent in Enrollment services will be sending an email to request that chairs consider offering staff and student workers with available time due to COVID19 restrictions for helping with outreach if not otherwise fruitfully employed in other duties. They will be able to work remotely.
  14. More information about on-campus laboratory considerations will be provided in the near future by the administration.

  16. Please thank the custodial staff who have been doing extra work to keep us safe.
  17. A temporary modification to the graduate studies procedures due to COVID19 were provided by Dr. Harn and a copy emailed to all CID members in the previous email with the agenda.
  18. Brent will also inform us about provisions that are being made for admission concerns such as issues getting official transcripts or tests.
  19. Summer and fall enrollment start on Monday and advising is going well. Thanks to all.
  20. Donna Meeks mentioned that students and faculty can use Adobe Creative Cloud applications at home or on personal computers at no additional cost, through a temporary license provided by Adobe.
