Admission Requirements

*During the COVID-19 pandemic, Lamar University College of Engineering has temporarily waived the requirement to take the GRE for admission consideration in the summer and fall 2020 semesters. Applications will be evaluated based on academic record. Lamar University has temporarily waived all application fees during this time. For more information, see our Covid-19 admissions page.
Lamar University College of Engineering will also offer courses online for students in the summer 2020 for students unable to travel to campus.*

Admission standards are designed to ensure that all enrolled students are qualified professionals serving in a leadership role in their engineering discipline. The primary requirements are as follows:

  1. B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field (Transcripts required).
  2. Competitive Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Scores (Quantitative>=151)*.
  3. If English is your second language, check the latest University policy regarding the TOEFL/IELTS requirements".
* - GRE test may be waived for the applicants, who received their undergraduate degree from Lamar University or other ABET-accredited programs.

Degree Requirements

1. All College of Graduate Studies general degree requirements.

2. A minimum of 30 semester hours of EE elective courses. Other courses approved by department graduate advisor may satisfy part of this requirement.

3. Satisfactory completion of a final comprehensive examination.
