Doctoral Students

payam niknejad

Payam Niknejad

Payam received the Bachelor and Master degrees in Power Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran and University of Guilan, Rasht, Iran in 2011 and 2013, respectively. He was a PhD Student of Power Engineering at Babol University of Technology, Babol, Iran 2013-2016 and a visiting researcher at Center for Energy System Research of Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, TN  Mar-Aug 2016. Now, He’s working on Energy Harvesting Methods in Hybrid Fuel Cells Microgrid System and Multi-dimensional Resilience Analysis at Lamar Renewable Energy and Microgrid Lab. His research interests include Resilience Analysis, Energy Management Systems, Power Electronics Converters, Renewable Energy Systems, and AC/DC Microgrids.

Tanushree Agarwal

Tanushree has done her Bachelors in technology(B.Tech) in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from Kurukshetra University India and Masters in Engineering (M.E) in Electronics and Product Designing Technology (EPDT) from Panjab Engineering College India. She has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering for five years in Amity University India. Presently she's a Doctoral student who joined in Summer 2016. Her research areas are embedded systems and control systems. She is also a member Of IEEE(student) and IETE.

Srikar X Venneti

Srikar has done his bachelor’s in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Karunya University in India. His final year project was in Renewable Energy. This fascinated him to do his master’s in Electrical Engineering with either Power Systems or Renewable Energy as the major. After his Bachelor’s degree in 2015, he worked as a Systems Engineer in Infosys Ltd in Mysore and Chennai. He was trained in Python, MySQL, PHP. He worked on a RBS UK project where he had to deal with the database RBS. He is in Lamar University from Fall 2016 for Master’s in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems as his major. Currently, he is a part of the Lamar Renewable Energy and Microgrid Laboratory team under Dr.Reza Barzegaran, where we are working a Fuel Cell project. His research areas are Power Systems and Renewable Energy.

rakib

Rakib Ur Rahman

Rakib has completed his Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Bangladesh. After that, he start working as an Electrical Engineer at Covanta Bangladesh Operation Ltd-110MW Barge Mounted Power Plant, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He trained in Power Plant Electrification Course at the Wartsila Land & Sea Academy, Finland. His practical experiences motivated him to start his Master’s Program in Electrical Engineering at Lamar University from Fall 2015. Now he is working as Research Assistant at “Lamar Renewable Energy and Microgrid Lab” on “Integration of Nanogenerators along with Renewable Energy Sources in Nanogrids and Energy Management of the Nanogrids” under Dr. Reza Barzegaran. Fatemeh Rahmani

Fatemeh received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electronic and Radio Frequency Circuit System engineering from Central Tehran Branch Azad University, Tehran, Iran in 2011 and 2014, respectively. She joined the research group of Lamar Renewable Energy and Microgrid Lab in summer 2016. She started research on utilizing wide band gap switches of power converters in dynamic wireless power charging of electric vehicle. She is currently working on the designs of transmitter and receiver coils and circuits for Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer. Meanwhile, she is trying to improve output efficiency of receiver side, reduce charging time in dynamic electric vehicle and determine optimum distance between successive transmitter coils.  Email: frahmani@lamar.edu

abolfazl rahimnejad

Abolfazl Rahimnejad

Abolfazl received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Power Engineering from Mazandaran University, Babol, Iran in 2009 and Babol (Noshirvani) University of Technology, Babol, Iran in 2012, respectively.  He has been a Ph.D. Student in Electrical Power Engineering in Babol University of Technology, Babol, Iran since September 2013.  He is currently working as Research Associate at Lamar Renewable Energy and Microgrid Lab, Beaumont, TX.
His main research interests include Smart Grid, Microgrid Energy Management Using Wide Bandgap Power Semiconductor Devices, and Renewable Energy Systems.  Email: arahimnejad@lamar.edu

pedram asef

Pedram Asef

Pedram was born in 1990. He graduated his B.Sc from the Shiraz University, and studied M.Eng degree at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). He won the presidential award in China, 2013. Currently, he is PhD degree fellow at Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC),Barcelona-Spain. All in the field of Electrical Engineering. His employment experience included the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Electromagnetic Engineering and Technology (AEET), China. He is currently working with Lamar Microgrid Renewable Energy Laboratory in TX, USA on non-intrusive condition monitoring, and Renewable Energy Systems, in addition,  IEEE Transaction on Energy Conversion, IEEE Transaction on Magnetics, IEEE Transaction on Industry Application as reviewer, and doing research for EEBE at the UPC. His special fields of interest included Electrical Machinery and its Drives, Renewable Energy Systems.
